From the Director
As a director and co-founder of the festival, I look for theatrical works that are meaningful, important and unique. Ranked fits that bill. It was written in response to the challenges inherent in our academic systems, and created from source material of high school students’ emails, texts, and journals as they navigated this anxious journey called life. It is what I lovingly call a "musical with a message,” so prevalent in the Broadway community today, and such a valuable and potent megaphone for these messages. The arts, the performing arts, has an obligation to make audiences think, question, feel and aspire to create change. Ranked is a forerunner in a collective unconscious that is seeking change and truths and answers for this and future generations. I am delighted to help Ranked move forward and find its' larger audience on a national level, where its' unique voice and music and message can inspire change.
